Charge to Presidential Search Advisory Group

The 20-member Presidential Search Advisory Group (PSAG) will be comprised of a diverse mix of members from across Winthrop’s stakeholder groups, including staff, faculty, students, alumni, the Winthrop Foundation, and community leaders.

The PSAG is tasked with assisting the President Search Committee by representing and seeking input from the broader Winthrop community regarding the university’s current challenges and opportunities, priorities the next president should address, and the preferred experience, leadership capabilities, and personal attributes this leader should possess.

The PSAG will gather community perspectives through town hall meetings both in-person and virtual, conversations with colleagues, and online surveys.  Committee members will be expected to attend several town hall meetings across campus and virtually; lead smaller conversations among their colleagues and/or larger ones within their colleges, organizations or units; discuss feedback received within the committee; and participate in development of a report to the President Search Committee that synthesizes these findings.

During the finalists’ on-campus visits, the PSAG will interact with the candidates by assisting with transportation, acting as campus hosts, and providing campus/community tours for finalists.

The PSAG and any other individuals engaged in the search process, shall preserve the confidentiality of the search process and candidate identities. Such confidentiality is essential to the successful outcome of the search and must be maintained with professionalism and diligence at all times throughout the search process.
