Transfer Orientation

Register for Orientation


Transfer Orientation session is a one-day program beginning at approximately 8:00 a.m. and ending around 5:00 p.m. The session includes experiences designed to allow students to learn about campus resources, interact with fellow new Eagles and current Eagles, meet with academic advisers and register for classes. Transfer Orientation Leaders are paired with groups of students to assist them with their transition to Winthrop University.

Transfer Orientation 2019 Dates

Online registration for the following orientation sessions is accessible through the student's Enrollment Checklist.

Session B: May 21
Session C: May 22*
(1/2 day for post-traditional students only)
Session D: June 27*
(1/2 day for post-traditional students only)
Session E: July 10
Session F: August 6
Session G: August 14

Sessions C and D are designated for post-traditional students only (students aged 25 and over). All other transfer students must attend a full-day session.

Registration

Students can register online for an Orientation session through the Enrollment Checklist. After you have successfully registered online, you will receive an e-mail confirmation.

Post-Traditional Students

To better accommodate the needs of post-traditional students (students aged 25 and up), two special Advising and Registration Only sessions are available on May 22 and June 27 (Sessions C and D). This is an opportunity for post-traditional students to come to campus to be advised and register for classes for the fall semester. The sessions will begin at 4:00 p.m.and last until approximately 8:00 p.m. These sessions are limited to post-traditional students. Any other transfer students with special circumstances who would like to attend one of these sessions should contact the Office of New Student and Family Programs for approval.

International Students

International students should contact the International Center at 803/323-2133 regarding Orientation requirements and accommodations.

Additional Support

The office of Military, Adult, and Transfer Services (MATS) provides student support services and programming tailored to the unique needs of post-traditional, veteran, and transfer students. If you have any questions regarding your transition to, or during your time at Winthrop, please contact MATS directly at mats@winthrop.edu or 803/323-4784 or visit their website. During Full Day Orientation sessions, you’ll also have the opportunity to interact with Transfer Orientation Leader and Mentors (TOLMs) who are current post-traditional and transfer students available to answer all of your Winthrop-related questions.
