Application Process

1.        All Orientation Leader (OL) and Transfer Orientation Leader & Mentor (TOLM) applicants must attend one (1) Information Session in September to learn more about each position.

a.       Wednesday, September 5 at 6 p.m. in Owens G01

b.       Friday, September 7 at 2 p.m. in DIGS 114

c.       Monday, September 10 at 6 p.m. in Owens G01

d.       Tuesday, September 11 at 11 a.m. in DIGS 114

e.       Thursday, September 13 at 11 a.m. in Owens G01

f.        Friday, September 14 at 2 p.m. in DIGS 114

2.       Read all requirements and mandatory dates associated with the position you are interested in to ensure there are no conflicts. All dates are required and non-negotiable.

3.       Complete your application. Applications can only be obtained by attending an information session. There are multiple parts to the application itself, so please prepare carefully.

a.       Fill out and sign the paper application form. Make sure to mark which position you are interested in (OL or TOLM).

b.       Type your responses to the supplemental questions which are listed on the back of the paper application.

c.       Update your resume. The Center for Career and Civic Engagement can help with this if needed.

d.       All applicants are required to have three (3) references. At least one reference must be a current Winthrop faculty or staff member. The OL or TOLM that you had does not count as your faculty/staff reference, but can still be one of your other two references. If you are applying as a freshman, your ACAD instructor is a good option for the faculty/staff reference. Completed reference forms should be submitted by September 25 at 12:00 PM (noon) in a sealed envelope with the candidate's application packet or saved as a PDF and emailed to orientationstaff@winthrop.edu.

4.       Turn in your application packet to the NSFP Office (248 DIGS) no later than September 25 at 12:00 PM (noon). Reminder of application packet materials:

a.       Completed application form

b.       Typed responses to Supplemental Questions

c.       3 References, including 1 by a faculty/staff member

d.       Resume'
