ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA — Hear from some of musical theatre’s most notorious baddies as Winthrop University’s Department of Theatre and Dance presents “Everyone Loves a Villain,” opening Oct. 31 in Johnson Studio Theatre.

Sing along with the villains you love to hate on favorites such as:

*“Poor Unfortunate Souls” from “The Little Mermaid”
*“Off With Their Heads” from “Wonderland”
*“Little Girls” from “Annie”
*“No Good Deed Goes Unpunished” from “Wicked”
*“Cell Block Tango” from “Chicago”

The show will also include selections from “Hamilton,” “Little Shop of Horrors,” “Jekyll & Hyde,” “Mean Girls,” “Carrie,” “Damn Yankees,” and “Bring It On.”

“Of course this theme fits right in with opening on Halloween night,” said Theatre and Dance Chair Daniel Gordon. “The murderous villains of musical theatre are a great way to celebrate All Hallows’ Eve.”

Directed by Professor Stephen Gundersheim, the show gives all musical theatre students a chance to shine with a slick combination of group and solo numbers.

Show times are 8 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday, Oct. 31-Nov. 3, and 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4. Tickets for the Wednesday and Thursday show times are $5 with a Winthrop ID or $10 to the general public; tickets for the Friday-Sunday shows are $8 with a Winthrop ID and $15 to the general public. Tickets can be purchased online or at the box office (Johnson Hall) between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday-Friday. The box office can be reached at 803/323-4014 or boxoffice@winthrop.edu.
