ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA – Winthrop University recently was named to Money Magazine’s “Best Colleges” in terms of value.

To determine the rankings, the magazine reviewed the nation’s roughly 2,000 four-year colleges and universities to discover which ones provide the best value for the money. The magazine screened out those that have a below-average graduation rate, financial difficulty or fewer than 500 students and then ranked the 705 that remained on 24 factors in three categories: educational quality, affordability and alumni success. View the complete methodology.

Winthrop made the list of colleges and universities that made the final cut.

"Receiving this third-party endorsement as a Money Magazine Best College reinforces Winthrop’s goal of keeping the cost of college within reach for families. We have always strived to provide the high quality Winthrop experience at a price that makes higher education accessible to all students,” said President Dan Mahony.

Over the past decade, Winthrop has consistently received third-party endorsements for its value, academic quality and sustainability efforts. U.S. News & World Report has named Winthrop one of the South's top 10 public universities that convey bachelor's and master's degrees in its "America's Best Colleges" edition for the last 24 years. Barron's Best Buys has included Winthrop in its rankings, Washington Monthly has named Winthrop a "best bang for the buck," and Princeton Review regularly lists the university among best Southeastern colleges.
