Financial Planning Program Recognized as Top 75 in the Nation

ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA -- Financial Planning has recognized Winthrop University in its list of the top 75 schools in the nation educating the next generation of financial planners.

“It is an honor to be recognized on this list, given the number of schools that offers financial planning,” said Philip Gibson, assistant professor of finance in the College of Business Administration. “We are on the right track and will continue to strive for excellence in the field of financial planning.”

According to the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Board, the number of registered university financial planning programs grew 60 percent between 2010 and 2015.

Winthrop offers a Bachelor of Science in finance with both a corporate finance track and a financial planning track. In its list, Financial Planning notes both Winthrop’s state-of-the-art trading lab with Bloomberg terminals and its student Financial Planning and Investment Club chapter.

The only other state school recognized in the list is Clemson University.
