Beloved Facilities Management Worker Passes Away

ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA — Cynthia Whitlock Gilmore, a Winthrop University facilities management employee, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 11. She was 56.

Gilmore was hired as a custodian for the West Center in 2008. She later took on a new assignment in Dinkins Hall, where she worked until her death.

“She displayed a wonderful attitude in everything she did and was always thinking of others and made dear friends in every building she worked,” said Walter Hardin, associate vice president for facilities management. “She will be missed by so many.”

Gilmore is survived by her mother, daughter and other family members.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Oct. 15 at Parker Funeral Home. Her funeral is set for 2 p.m. Oct. 16 at Cross Road Baptist Church in Rock Hill.
