Annual Concert on the Lawn Set for Sept. 27

 The free concert will be Sept. 27 at 6 p.m. on the Byrnes Auditorium lawn.

ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA – Lawn chairs, blankets and maybe a picnic meal.

That’s all you’ll need for the Winthrop University Department of Music’s special event: Concert on the Lawn.

The Winthrop Wind Symphony and the Winthrop Symphonic Band will treat the audience to a beautiful musical performance on the Byrnes Auditorium lawn.

The free performance will be Sunday, Sept. 27, at 6 p.m. It is an approved cultural event.

Formed in 1978 by Professor Emeritus of Music William Malambri, the Symphonic Band is known for its performances featuring significant repertoires specifically written for winds and for showcasing a vast array of musical styles.

Associate Professor of Music Douglas Presley
will conduct the Symphonic Band at the Concert on the Lawn.

Celebrating its 10-year anniversary is the Winthrop Wind Symphony, comprised of the best wind and percussions players at Winthrop. The group tours the Carolinas every two years, performing for high school music programs. Associate Professor of Music Lorrie Crochet will conduct this group at the concert.
