ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA -- Shakespeare Carolina is well-known for putting a new spin on old favorites. The acting troupe has done it once again in its newest production, "The Merry Wives of Windsor," opening Aug. 20 at the Winthrop University Amphitheatre.

Shakespeare Carolina
promises a story of "lust, greed and dirty laundry" with this wildly original take on the William Shakespeare play.

Down on his luck, the roguish Falstaff sends two married well-to-do women identical messages with the hopes of seducing them. He plans to work his way through the close-knit Southern community, swindling and seducing along the way.

But those two Southern belles take matters into their own hands and set out to teach both Falstaff and their husbands a lesson.

Will they succeed, or will Falstaff get what he wants? Find out for yourself this weekend!

Show times are 8 p.m. Aug. 20-23 and Aug. 27-30. Tickets are only $5 and can be purchased online or at the event.

"The Merry Wives of Windsor" is the perfect way for new and returning students to relax during the busy Move-In Day and beginning of classes.

Shakespeare Carolina is a culturally diverse organization that promotes color and gender blind casting. Shakespeare Carolina seeks to promote the universality of the classical canon to audiences that may not otherwise be exposed to the works of world’s greatest playwright. It is Shakespeare Carolina’s goal to grow into one of the region’s premiere cultural institutions, providing educational outreach as well as educational, technical and artistic opportunities for all segments of York County’s population.
