Quick Facts

Embry joined the Foundation team in 2012 as senior director of financial affairs.
She holds two degrees from Winthrop.

ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA – The Winthrop University Foundation has appointed Robin Embry as executive director of its operations, effective July 1.

She will serve as the chief operating officer for the Winthrop University Foundation and will work closely with the executive board to support and enhance Winthrop University by encouraging alumni and friends to provide private funds and other resources for the university’s benefit.

The Winthrop University Foundation is the principal recipient of private gifts from alumni and friends of the university, and manages and distributes unrestricted gifts, endowments, deferred gifts, and special gifts to build and maintain programs at Winthrop.

Embry replaces Kim Keel, who retired in December 2014. A native of the state of Washington who moved to Rock Hill in 1984, Embry joined the foundation team in 2012 as senior director of financial affairs. For the last six months, she has filled in as interim executive director.

“I am very passionate about the Winthrop University Foundation’s mission to help students complete their education through scholarships,” Embry said. “The generosity of Winthrop donors has allowed me to realize my educational goals, and I am excited to be part of this important work.”

Embry has 12 years of experience in public accounting and another 14 years in banking. A certified public accountant with a South Carolina license, she holds a B.S. degree in business administration with an emphasis in accounting and an M.B.A. in accounting, both from Winthrop.
