Sport Management Faculty Member Thanked for Her Work on Sports Law Conference

CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA - Winthrop University faculty member Kristi L. Schoepfer received the President’s Award in March during the 28th Annual Sport and Recreation Law Association (SRLA) conference in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The association, made up of more than 100 members, gives the annual award to the member who has given the greatest level of service to the organization. Schoepfer repeated as a recipient of the award; she also was given it in 2013.

An associate professor of sport management, Schoepfer has been a member of the national organization of sport law faculty for eight years. During the past four years, she has served as the webmaster for the organizations’ two websites and as a member of the Board of Directors from 2012-14. She presided over the March conference in Charlotte, serving as the conference host, with Winthrop responsible as host institution.

At Winthrop, Schoepfer teaches Risk Management in Sport, Sport Law, Research and Writing in Sport Management, Sport Ethics and Governance, and Introduction to Sport Management. Additionally, she is active in Winthrop's University College, having taught both Introduction to the Academy and The Human Experience, and serving as interim director of the leadership studies minor.

Schoepfer and Dan Drane, chair of Winthrop’s Department of Physical Education, Sport and Human Performance, were asked to host the 29th annual SRLA conference to be held in New Orleans, Louisiana, next February.
