Charlotte Dance Festival Welcomes Winthrop Students' Original Choreography

ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA — The Charlotte Dance Festival will feature a few familiar faces this weekend.

Four Winthrop University students will perform their originally choreographed works on Sunday, March 22. The students are:

*Mason Diaz, a dance major from Summerville;

*Bridget O’Connor, a dance major from Quincy, Massachusetts;

*Kristin Ramirez, a biology major from Waxhaw, North Carolina;

*Kristin Ward, a dance major from Myrtle Beach.

Each year, the Charlotte Dance Festival presents a diverse blend of new and established dance artists in a variety of styles. Performances for 2015 will feature New York City’s Daniel Gwirtzman Dance Company, the Los Angeles-based MashUp Contemporary Dance Company and Philadelphia’s Danse4Nia Repertory Ensemble, along with many Charlotte-based performers.

Sunday’s events include a wide range of workshops and the Charlotte Emerging Dance Awards (CEDA). Winthrop students will perform at the awards. Performances begin at 6 p.m. at the Patricia McBride and Jean Pierre Bonnefoux Center for Dance, located at 170 N. Tryon St. in Charlotte.
