'Tis the Season With Performances, Tree Lightings and More

Quick Facts

 Highlights include the annual Christmas Tree lighting on Dec. 5 and the 25th anniversary of the pottery sale, also Dec. 5.

ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA — The holiday season has arrived! On Friday, Dec. 5, Winthrop University will glow with the beautiful lights of the Christmas Tree in front of Tillman Hall.

The month of December promises to be a busy one with many events campus-wide to get into the holiday spirit:

Christmas Bake Sale
Dec. 2, 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
Scholars Walk
Students will sell Christmas-themed baked goods for their organization.

Holiday Card Sale

Dec. 3, 11 a.m.-noon
DiGiorgio Campus Center lobby

Student group Command+D will sell original student-designed holiday cards, scarves and other gift items. All proceeds go toward the 2015 and 2016 senior art shows.

Pictures with Santa
Dec. 4, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
DiGiorgio Campus Center lobby
Santa is making a list and checking it twice…find out where you are on the list with this special event.

Senior Art Education Exhibition

An opening reception is scheduled for Dec. 5 at 6 p.m.

25th Anniversary Celebration: Holiday Pottery Sale
Dec. 5, noon-6 p.m.

More than 25 alumni return for the special anniversary! The sale is the perfect time to select unique gifts for family and friends.

Lighting of the Winthrop Christmas Tree
Dec. 5, 6 p.m.
Tillman Hall
Join the Winthrop Alumni Association for the annual lighting of the Winthrop Christmas Tree. Part of Rock Hill’s ChristmasVille line-up, the ceremony is free and open to the public.

Christmas Relay
Dec. 6, noon-4 p.m.
Student Activity Center gym
Alpha Delta Pi and Kappa Sigma have teamed up for this fundraiser. Teams of eight people each will compete in a relay featuring various activities. Funds will go toward sponsoring a needy child for the holidays.

Senior Choreography Showcase

Dec. 5-6, 8 p.m.
Johnson Theatre
$5 w/ WU ID, $10 w/o. Cultural event.
See tomorrow’s professional choreographers today!

York County Choral Society Holiday Concert
Dec. 7, 4 p.m.
Byrnes Auditorium
$15 general admission, $10 seniors, Winthrop faculty and staff, $5 for students.
The chorus is under the leadership of Associate Professor of Music Katherine Kinsey.

Enactus Christmas Sweets Sale
Dec. 8, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
DiGiorgio Campus Center lobby
Satisfy your sweet tooth with a bake sale. Proceeds will go toward attendance fees for the National Expo in St. Louis, Missouri.
