New York Choreographer Adds His Talents to Winthrop Dance Theatre

ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA — A special guest artist lends his talents to the Winthrop University Department of Theatre and Dance’s Dance Theatre, opening Nov. 13 in Johnson Theatre.

New York choreographer Jamie Drye '09 is the founder and co-artistic director of Drye/Marinaro Dance Company. He has taught dance and fitness classes for more than six years, including modern dance and Zumba. He is currently the Bokwa expert specialist trainer of Connecticut.

Winthrop Dance Theatre will feature a full evening of works choreographed by 10 faculty and guest artists and includes modern, contemporary and ballet choreography as well as collaborations with Drye and theatre production.

Nearly 30 dance students will perform on the special night. Assistant Professor of Dance and Dance Program Director Meg Schriffen directs the production.

Show times for Winthrop Dance Theatre are 8 p.m. Nov. 13-15 and 2 p.m. Nov. 16. Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for general admission. It is a cultural event and open to the public.
