ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA – Winthrop University alumni Justin Pauley ’04 and Emily Stevenson Pauley ’07 have established two new scholarships for computer science majors as a way to recognize and support the Department of Computer Science & Quantitative Methods.

Justin, a computer science major, and Emily have created two scholarships to assist computer science majors: the Justin and Emily Pauley Endowed Scholarship and the Justin and Emily Pauley Annual Restricted Scholarship. First preference for both scholarships will be given to students majoring in computer science who have completed CSCI 271 or a higher core computer science course. The annual restricted scholarship will begin awarding in fall 2015, while the endowment will not be fully funded until summer 2018.

The couple resides in Manhattan, where Justin works as a financial analyst and bond trader at Brigade Capital Management, and Emily serves as accounts payable supervisor at Bloomsbury Publishing, Inc. Justin earned his B.S. in computer science (minor in mathematics) and Emily earned a B.S. in business administration. The pair met at Winthrop, and their fond memories of their alma mater made the decision to give back a simple one.

“Winthrop is where Emily and I met, and Winthrop is where we made the lifelong friends we still have today. We’ve been blessed to have successful careers and the ability to give back,” said Justin, adding that he and Emily want to highlight the computer science program. “Winthrop has a great computer science program that we would like to see receive more attention.”
