ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA -- Enjoy some quiet, relaxing reading time at the Winthrop University Department of English's special reading event this weekend.

The Silent Reading Party is a fundraiser for the department. The event will take place 7-9 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2 at Groucho's Deli in Rock Hill. Tickets are $15, with $5 going toward food and drink.

Tickets are available in 250 Bancroft Hall or at the door of Groucho's during the event. Groucho's is located at 221 North Cherry Road.

Whether you want to finish up Chaucer for your class or you just want to see what the hype around The Hunger Games is all about, this event is focused on "reading allowed, but not aloud."

Silent Reading parties have popped up across the United States as a way to combine a social life with a private hobby. They've taken off especially in New York City and Seattle.
