ROCK HILL, S.C. - The 19th Annual Holiday Pottery Sale will be held Friday, Dec. 5, from noon to 6 p.m. in the ground floor of the Rutledge Building in Ceramics Room G-10.

Crafted by Winthrop students, James Connell, professor of ceramics, and his wife, Paula Smith, pieces for sale range from sculptural pieces to functional creations to Raku, or Japanese pottery, pieces.

This year's sale will feature Jay Owens, a studio potter from Greenville, S.C., and a former Winthrop student, as the visiting artist.

Pieces for sale range in price from $10 to $100. Connell said proceeds from the sale will be used to purchase much-needed kiln shelves for the ceramics salt kiln and to bring in visiting artist Bonnie Seeman of Miami, Fla., to demonstrate for students during the spring semester.
