Families Welcomed on Campus for Family Day

 More than 500 family members are expected to visit their students during this eighth annual event, according to Carrie Whiteside, director for new student and family programs.
 Participants can start their day with a tour of the Winthrop Galleries, an Archives Exhibit in the Little Chapel, rock climbing at the West Center, a one-of-a-kind experience on the dangers of driving while impaired with the Winthrop Campus Police or a behind-the-scenes bus tour of the Winthrop campus.

ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA - Family members attending Winthrop University’s Family Day can participate in Olympic games, a picnic, rock climbing and other activities on Saturday, Oct. 4.

More than 500 family members are expected to visit their students during this eighth annual event, according to Carrie Whiteside, director for new student and family programs.

Participants can start their day with a tour of the Winthrop Galleries, an Archives Exhibit in the Little Chapel, rock climbing at the West Center, a one-of-a-kind experience on the dangers of driving while impaired with the Winthrop Campus Police or a behind-the-scenes bus tour of the Winthrop campus.

The day continues with the Family Picnic, held on the Byrnes Auditorium lawn, featuring a performance by the Symphonic Band. Acting President Debra Boyd will welcome the crowd at 12 p.m. from the steps of Byrnes.

The afternoon activities include the annual Family Olympics, the RSA Block Party with inflatable games, the annual Disc Golf Tournament behind the Winthrop Coliseum and a Billiards and Ping-Pong Tournament. Evening activities include the men’s soccer game vs. Longwood University, Rock ‘n’ Roll Trivia and a movie in the campus theatre.
