Volunteer Opportunities Available for Alumni During Fall 2014 Semester

Quick Facts

Opportunities are available for Winthrop alumni to reach potential students and represent their alma mater at local college fairs.

ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA – Attention Winthrop alumni: The university's recruitment team members have kicked off a busy fall schedule of visits, and they need your help to reach outstanding prospective students.

Opportunities are now available for alumni to serve as Winthrop Alumni Admissions Volunteers (WAAV). Share your Winthrop experience with future students and represent your alma mater by attending local college fairs as an alumni ambassador. Visit the admissions events calendar for a list of college fairs in your area.

Established in 1991, the WAAV program serves as a joint effort between the Office of Admissions and Alumni Relations to involve alumni in the recruiting of outstanding students. To find out more information about Winthrop recruitment, or to recommend a prospective student, send an email to

Prospective alumni volunteers are encouraged to complete the Volunteer Interest Form or contact the Morgan-Holcombe Alumni Center at 803/323-2145 to learn more about opportunities in their areas.

The fall Winthrop Stands tour offers another chance for alumni to share their Winthrop experiences and reconnect with their alma mater. The tour, an extension of the university's Winthrop Stands fundraising initiative, will connect alumni, the university's most vocal ambassadors, with prospective students. Alumni in Columbia, South Carolina, are encouraged to attend an Oct. 21 event at Jillian's from 6-8 p.m. to meet prospective students and share their love for Winthrop with prospective students and their families. To attend, please RSVP to Laura Little, alumni engagement coordinator, at 803/323-2145 or
