Librarian Ronnie Faulkner Recognized as Rotary Major Donor

ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA - Ronnie W. Faulkner, head of Technical Services and professor at the Dacus Library of Winthrop University, was recognized as a major donor of The Rotary Foundation on Sept. 11.

The honor took place at the meeting of the Rotary Club of Rock Hill. Faulkner became the first Rotarian to be so designated in the history of the Rock Hill club, which was chartered in 1919.

The foundation is a not-for-profit corporation associated with Rotary International that supports humanitarian, educational and cultural exchange programs to promote world peace and understanding. It was created in 1917 and receives voluntary contributions from Rotarians and friends who share its vision of a better world. A major donor is one whose giving reaches or surpasses $10,000.

The presentation of the honor to Faulkner was made by District Governor for 7750 Tom Faulkner (no relation) of the Rotary Club of Greater Greer, South Carolina.

Faulkner is secretary of the Rock Hill club and has been a Rotarian for 29 years. He has been president of Rotary Clubs in Glenville, West Virginia, and Lillington, North Carolina. He has a long record of support for The Rotary Foundation, being a sustaining member, a Paul Harris Society member, a Bequest Society member and a Benefactor.

A librarian at Winthrop since 2010, Faulkner previously held positions at Tennessee Technological University, Glenville (W.Va.) State College, and Campbell University (N.C.). He is a member of Northside Baptist Church in Rock Hill and is the son of the late Silas S. and Mary Etheline Faulkner of Coats, North Carolina.
