Thurmond Building
ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA — Four Winthrop University students and alumni were selected as scholarship winners by the Charlotte-area Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

Five area students were selected, with four of the winners having Winthrop ties. The students are:

Rachel Farr, a business administration major from Fort Mill
Marissa Nichols, a business administration major from Rock Hill
Anthony Jacblonekci ’14, a sociology major from Hilton Head
Shelby Webb ’14, a business administration major from Hilton Head

Winners were selected based on the leadership they have shown through the student chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management as well as service to the local community. The scholarship granted them attendance to the national Society for Human Resource Management conference in June in Orlando, Florida.

Earlier this year, Winthrop’s SHRM chapter won the Student Superior Merit Award for excellence and achievement from the society. This award recognizes outstanding achievements in chapter operations and a commitment to providing meaningful programs and services to members. The Superior Merit Award also distinguishes the chapter as an outstanding organization dedicated to serving its members and to the advancement of the human resource management profession

The society has more than 575 affiliated chapters worldwide. Associate Professor of Management Malayka Klimchak is the group’s advisor.
