Winthrop Calls for Volunteers for the 12th Annual Lake Wylie River Sweep

 The river sweep is from 9 a.m.-noon.

ROCK HILL, S.C. — Volunteers of all ages are encouraged to join the Winthrop University community at the 12th Annual Lake Wylie River Sweep on Saturday, Oct. 5.

From 9 a.m.-noon, volunteers can choose one of the 14 site locations and help beautify the lake, area creeks and streams. The Winthrop community will focus on the Ebenezer Park site, located at 4490 Boatshore Road off of Mt. Gallant Road. Gloves and trash bags will be provided.

The river sweep is coordinated by the Catawba Riverkeepers, the Lake Wylie Riverkeepers and the Lake Wylie Marine Commission. It is held the first Saturday of every October.

Volunteers are urged to wear comfortable, old clothing and closed-toe shoes as well as a hat or sun visor and sunscreen. Visit the official river sweep website for more details.
