S.C. Official Will Present March 19 Session on Legal Structures for Business

 The event will be from 2 – 5 p.m. in Whitton Auditorium in Vivian M. Carroll Hall. A reception in the Macfeat House adjacent to Carroll Hall will follow the event.
 Secretary Hammond will discuss the different types of entity structures that his office handles, such as LLCs, partnerships, sole proprietorships, S-Corps, C-Corps, etc. He will discuss the form requirements, as well as other facts surrounding each entity choice.

ROCK HILL, S.C. – S.C. Secretary of State Mark Hammond will speak March 19 for the Whitton Best Practices Series on the legal implications of setting up a business.

The event will be from 2 – 5 p.m. in Whitton Auditorium in Vivian M. Carroll Hall. A reception in the Macfeat House adjacent to Carroll Hall will follow the event.

Secretary Hammond will discuss the different types of entity structures that his office handles, such as LLCs, partnerships, sole proprietorships, S-Corps, C-Corps, etc. He will discuss the form requirements, as well as other facts surrounding each entity choice. He will be accompanied by Shannon Wiley, deputy legal counsel, in the session, called "Choices in Legal Structures for Business."

Additionally, local attorney Joanie Winters will discuss the debt and legal implications of each legal business entity.

The Whitton Best Practices Series, sponsored by Elaine Whitton Davis and developed in conjunction with Winthrop College of Business Admnistration faculty, was established to provide free sessions relevant to small business practice and in support of the regional business community.

Davis, a Rock Hill real estate agent, wanted to help small business owners, who often do not have the resources or time to stay abreast of current topics and trends in the business world.
