ROCK HILL, S.C. — Winthrop University’s DiGiorgio Student Union (DSU) has once again been nominated as one of the top five campus activities program boards in the United States by Campus Activities Magazine.

Winthrop’s DSU is up against Florida Gulf Coast University, Quinnipiac University, California State University-Chico and Cazenovia College for the title in the magazine’s reader’s choice awards.

"The DSU program works so hard to try to bring a quality, diverse, entertaining schedule of events to the Winthrop community," said Boyd Jones, director of university programs at Winthrop. "We are excited about what is coming our way."

DSU has won the award three times and been nominated more than 10 times. The organization won similar awards from the National Association of Campus Activities and the Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities.

Jones has served as the director of university programs for more than 20 years. Under his leadership, DSU has brought quality artists, musicians and performers to campus for students and the community to enjoy.

In 2012-13 DSU has brought to campus former American Idol contestant Bo Bice, singer-songwriters such as Hana Pestle and Ari Hest, breakdancing roller-skaters BreakSk8 and hypnotist Tom DeLuca, a Winthrop favorite.
