Marshall Jones Traveling to Philippines as Part of U.S. Department of State's Education Outreach Initiative

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Winthrop University Education Professor Marshall Jones will travel to the Philippines as part of one of the U.S. Department of State’s education outreach initiatives.

Jones will be working with educators on the use of technology in teaching and learning. Jones has been invited to lead a workshop in Manila on Web 2.0 tools, Open Education Resources (OERs) and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). The workshop is designed for teachers in the Philippines who have studied in the United States as part of the International Leaders in Education Program (ILEP). ILEP is a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State, and is a companion program to the Teaching Excellence and Achievement (TEA) program.

Jones was invited by IREX, a non-profit organization that facilitates U.S. Department of State ILEP and TEA grants, to conduct the workshop and visit schools and work with teachers in Iloilo City.
