A Few Things to Keep In Mind
The HOPE scholarship is for first year students only. Those students can earn the
LIFE scholarship in their sophomore, junior and senior year if they meet the renewal
requirements. The LIFE scholarship is available for four consecutive years from initial
college enrollment. Recipients must earn an average of 30 hours per year and maintain
a cumulative LIFE GPA of 3.000. The Palmetto Fellows scholarship is available for
four consecutive years from initial college enrollment. Recipients must earn 30 hours
EACH year and maintain a cumulative Winthrop GPA of 3.000.
Scholarship recipients will be reviewed at the end of each spring semester for continued eligibility. They can use the summer term to make up hours and/or GPA if they do not meet the requirements at the end of the spring semester.
A few things to remember: 1) Students should NOT use DegreeWorks to calculate their GPA, 2) GPA is not rounded up as a GPA of 2.999 would not be eligible, and 3) the GPA is calculated using three decimal places (3.000 not 3.0).
