The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) is designed to prepare individuals who are seeking initial certification to be a classroom teacher. Graduate candidates may pick one of the following areas of certification at the high school level: biology, chemistry, English, mathematics, or social studies; or they may pick one of the following areas for certification grades K-12: art, dance, music, physical education, Spanish, or theatre .
