Bachelor of Arts in English
Students may choose the the BA in English or BA in English with Certification as Secondary School Teacher
Minor in English
The minor in English consists of 18 semester hours of ENGL to include 6 hours selected
from:
9 hours in ENGL courses (may include ENGE 519 and a maximum of 3 hours in ENGL 200)
and
3 hours in ENGL courses numbered above 499.
6 hours must be above 299.
Minor in Writing
The minor in Writing allows students in all majors to pursue their interests in the
craft of written expression, whether in a creative or a professional emphasis.
Students completing the writing minor will earn 18 semester hours and may emphasize
either Creative Writing or Professional Writing. English majors should note that courses counted toward the major cannot be counted
toward the minor.
Students choosing the Creative Emphasis choose 9-12 hours from:

Master of Arts in English
The Master of Arts in English consists of either 30 semester hours with a thesis or 36 semester hours without one.
While our program emphasizes the study of literature, students are able to take courses
in creative writing, composition and rhetoric, and linguistics; collateral courses
are also available in supporting areas or documents.
