Child and Youth Well-Being Minor
The minor in Child and Youth Well-being is designed for students interested in exploring
basic domains of child and youth well-being: (a) cognitive functioning, (b) physical
health and development, (c) behavioral/emotional functioning, and (d) social functioning
as well as policies and practices that affect the well-being of children and youth.
The minor would be housed within the Department of Social Work. A Department of Social
Work faculty member would serve as the minor advisor for the Child and Youth Well-being
minor.
The minor consists of 18 hours:

SCWK 306 (Working with Multicultural Populations) or PSYC/AAMS 320 (Racial, Cultural,
& Ethnic Influence on Identity)

9 credit hours selected from the approved list of coursework below, 6 hours of which
must be above 299. At least two designators beyond SCWK must be included in the electives.
