Social Work

Bachelor of Social Work

Welcome to the Department of Social Work at Winthrop University. To learn more about Social Work you can visit the new CSWE Student Website or take a look at What do Social Workers do with their degree?

As a student-centered learning community, the Department follows the established core social work values of service, social justice, the dignity and worth of the person, the importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence. We offer the following degree options to educate students to become generalist practice and advanced practice social workers:

Curriculum & Learning Opportunities

Social Work Major - Preparing students to move directly into social work positions in a wide range of settings with a focus in generalist practice.

Social Work Minors - Offering two minors for Winthrop Undergraduates. The Social Welfare minor is designed for students interested in the general social welfare field who do not plan to enter into professional social work practice. The new Child and Youth Well-Being minor is available to both Social Work majors and non-majors.

Masters of Social Work - Offering an advanced concentration in empowerment practice across systems (individuals and families, small groups, and communities and organizations). Includes full-time, weekend, and our 100% online program options.
