Environmental Studies

Bachelor of Arts

The environmental studies program is well suited for students who are interested in environmental issues and people.  Graduates are broadly trained and are finding jobs in environmental education, compliance branches of city and state government and environmental advocacy organizations, to name a few. Special aspects of our program include training in geographic information systems software and an experiential learning requirement, which provides real-world experiences before you graduate.

Curriculum & Learning Opportunities

The environmental sciences and studies programs highly recommends studying abroad or participating in an exchange program, and makes it easily accessible for their students. This opportunity to travel to another country can greatly enhance a student’s understanding of environmental issues and of other cultures. Winthrop has partners with numerous schools and programs; three of which are specifically appealing for environmental sciences and studies students. These students can travel to Australia, Costa Rica or Panama to enhance their educational experience.
