Winthrop will celebrate International Education Week from November 8-17, 2017

International Education Week is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange programs worldwide. During this week, schools all over the U.S. celebrate both their international students and the study abroad experience.

International Education Week is a joint initiative between the U.S. Department of State and Department of Education. For 16 years, this week has been a celebration of globalization. Winthrop University is excited to be a part of this celebration!

Tales from South Africa: Stories from Abroad with Rachel Burns, 11AM in Dinkins Auditorium (Free Global Cultural Event)

This presentation is sponsored by the Honors Program, the International Center, and the Office of Nationally Competitive Awards. Rachel Burns, a recent Winthrop alumna, will discuss her experiences as a Fulbright Fellow teaching English in South Africa. She will discuss her experiences, what she has learned about South African culture, and how her Fulbright Fellowship has changed her life.

International Tea & Hospitality from Around the World
11AM in Dina's Place and The DiG's Lobby

This event will begin in Dina's Place for a discussion of hospitality customs from around the world. Dr. Duha Hamed and several international students will share information on their culture and customs from their home countries. Once this event is over, there will be an International Tea in DiG's lobby and 114. Winthrop's international students and faculty/staff will have tea or coffee from their home country for you to sample. (For cultural event credit you must come to the Dina's Place by 11am).

All international students planning to travel outside the U.S. over the semester break must have their immigration documents signed prior to departing the U.S. Bring your documents for the required signature but also stay to help us decorate the IC Christmas tree and participate in our inaugural service project just for Winthrop's international students!
