Please congratulate the women of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. for being selected as Chapter of the Month for November.

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated was founded on November 12th, 1922 on the campus of Butler University by seven educators. The Lambda Kappa Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated on the campus of Winthrop University, was charted on September 27th, 1989.

The month of November was an busy month for the ladies of Sigma Gamma Rho.Participating in Winthrop Homecoming Step Show and celebrating Foundes Week the following week made for an exciting month of activities.

The 2014 Founders Week kicked off with "Church with The Poodles"at Freedom Temple Ministries. Monday, students were able to be submerged into the culture of Africa during the Program, Experience of Africa. Participants were able to hear from a student, who is a native of Africa, as he shared his experiences and culture. Students were then taught a dance influence by the African culture from the Winthrop University African Student Association. Girls Night, targeted towards freshmen females was held Tuesday. This event sought to educate first semester freshmen on some of the resources on campus and how to utilize them effectively. Wednesday served as a nice comic relief with the second, "Willdin' Out Wednesday". The current CSL Chair and newly crowned Homecoming King, served as team captain in a 4 round comedy battle. Thursday concluded the week of programs with "Sex in the Dark" . This program allowed participants to ask questions and receive answers from an expert on the topic at Catawba Care.

Along with all of the programs held, the Chapter continued to make an impact in the Rock Hill community with direct service project. The chapter sponsored and oversaw a cooking decorating table for children at the Annual Chocolate Festival hosted by Keystone. They also continue to volunteer at the Rock Hill Boys and Girls Club Teen Center each Monday and Thursday evening. They mentor a group of young girls and coordinate lessons to discuss topics like self-esteem, relationship, continuing educated. The Lambda Kappa Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. is honored to have received Chapter of the month and will continue to strive to full-fill their motto, "Greater Service, Greater Progress."
