Congratulations to the men of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. on being selected as Chapter of the Month!

The E.L.I.T.E. Xi Phi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. started the year off strong with their annual MLK Vigil. The Vigil was a dedication and celebration of the life of Alpha Brother, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Over 200 students, faculty and community members took a journey back into time to remember the life of Dr. King. Immediately following the vigil, students gathered outside of the DiGiorgio Center to participate in a candle light vigil were participants took a moment to remember and keep the dream of Dr. King alive.

The MLK Vigil did not conclude Xi Phi's service for January. The Xi Phi Chapter also announced details for the newly established Jordan R. Smith Memorial Scholarship. The Jordan R. Smith Memorial Scholarship is reserved for male students who embody:

  • academic excellence
  • a dedication to positively effecting every environment that they enter
  • community service
  • leadership

A $500 scholarship will be awarded the Spring semester of each year to one student and is designated to be used during the Fall semester. Xi Phi is proud to honor the legacy of their dear Brother Jordan R. Smith.
