Become an Arts Leader
The Master of Arts in Arts Administration (MAAA) program prepares individuals interested in contributing to the creative industry as innovative leaders. Through in-depth preparation, these arts leaders learn how to inspire audiences and their organizations, sustain financial support, manage resources, and create innovative strategies that sustain organizations.

The Campus-Based program is not currently enrolling new students. However, you are welcome to apply to the 100% online program.
The program features visits to nonprofit arts organization sites in the region. Every month students meet in small groups and individually with their instructors to discuss their progress and set goals for the next phase of their learning.

Winthrop University’s online MAAA program feature the same curricula and are taught by many of the same faculty as our on-campus programs. You benefit from the flexibility and convenience of being able to access your courses from any device.

Master of Arts in Arts Administration Deadline: April 1 for fall admission
Applications received after the April 1 deadline will be reviewed and considered as space in the cohort permits. Please contact program director Robert Wildman, wildmanr@winthrop.edu for information on space availability.
Note: All admission materials must be received by the Graduate School office before an application will be reviewed
Application requirements for the Master of Arts in Arts Administration program include:
Complete the online Graduate School application with the non-refundable application fee.
Request official transcript(s) from all institutions attended for undergraduate and graduate coursework. Transcripts must be sent directly to Winthrop's Graduate School office from the issuing institution(s). We cannot accept transcripts (even sealed, official transcripts) from individuals.
Hold a baccalaureate degree with an overall undergraduate grade-point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Have at least one year of professional or volunteer experience in a nonprofit arts/cultural environment or, if accepted, identify and complete volunteer opportunities with non-profit arts organizations in their communities.
A personal statement describing their background in a non-profit arts/cultural environment and their reasons for pursuing this degree program
Current resume or curriculum vitae
Two letters of recommendation. Recommendations from arts and/or academic professionals are preferred.
