Winthrop will receive $7.3 million this fall to be distributed to students as part of the American Rescue Plan (ARP). A link to the application will be posted here by late August. These funds will be available to all degree-seeking students who have experienced pandemic expenses or who have other college expenses, like tuition and housing. We expect this to be the last round of funding the federal government will be providing as a result of the pandemic.

Make sure you have checked Wingspan for any outstanding requirements (Wingspan, Financial Aid, Eligibility, Award Year 2021-2022) and submit this to the financial aid office NOW. Financial Aid cannot disburse until all your missing requirements are submitted and processed. Due to the volume we receive in August it can take us several weeks to process your information.

E-mail us at finaid@winthrop.edu with any questions. You can also schedule a Zoom appointment. Paperwork can be submitted securely through Wingspan (Financial Aid, Document Upload), dropped by the Office of Financial Aid, or sent by fax to 803-323-2557. You can also mail your documents.

A reminder that “S” and “CR” grades do count as earned credits. They will apply to your state scholarship eligibility (if applicable). “S” and “CR” grades do not help or hurt your GPA.

Winthrop University has an emergency fund for students experiencing sudden financial hardship. Access the application.
