The VPSA Office Assistant is a front-line position which requires daily interaction with students, staff and faculty. The position provides support to office projects and programs as needed. In addition, the position is integral to digital media management for the Office of the VPSA.
Applicants are expected to be personable, timely, organized and have the ability to learn. Some experience with digital media platforms (e.g. Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Hootesuite, etc.) is highly desirable. Job specific training is provided. Employees can work up to 20 hours per week.

Specific Responsibilities

General Office Duties
• Provide front-line customer service.
• Greet visitors, students, faculty, staff and administrators who visit the office.
• Answer questions about office and university programs and services.
• Direct guests to appropriate individuals and offices within the university utilizing the Winthrop University directory (provide numbers, emails and office locations when applicable).
• Take messages and transfer/forward calls as necessary.
• Perform general office operations that include: copying, faxing and on campus deliveries
• Communicate any problems, concerns or suggestions to the Vice President of Student Affair
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Vice President of Student Affairs

Digital Media Duties
• Partner with the VPSA to generate, edit, publish and share daily content (original text, images, video or HTML) that builds meaningful connections across VPSA social media platforms
• Assist with creation of marketing and digital media campaigns and initiatives to increase visibility, followers, and traffic
• Promote and support all functions and events sponsored by the VPSA office and Student Affairs.
• Keep supervisor(s) informed about progress of new initiatives, campaigns, projects, etc.
Specific Skills:
Minimum Qualifications

• At least one year of experience working in a higher education setting
• Familiar with using digital and social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Linkedin, Hootsuite, etc.)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• The ability to work independently and in collaboration with a team

Notes: We are looking for a student who is comfortable in a professional office environment. One who is knowledgeable and skillful of Social Media.
