Job Title: Literary Intervention Team Tutor
   
Job Description: The goal of the literacy intervention team (LIT) is to mobilize college students to alleviate illiteracy in the Rock Hill community. We provide off campus services at various sites including York Road Elementary, the YMCA, Richmond Drive Elementary, and our newest partner school Oakdale Elementary. Our trained university LIT members work with local first through fifth grade students on literacy based activities such as one on one reading, group reading, and guided reading to overall improve basic reading skills.
LIT members meet with students on a regular basis various times a week Monday through Friday, based on their class schedule and availability.If you are work-study eligible and are interested in becoming a reading mentor (or if you are interested in serving as a volunteer) please email Kyra Youngblood for an application. If you have any questions regarding the program please do not hesitate to call or email our office at (803)323-2141. Tutors are needed from 8:00am to 5:30pm Monday through Friday. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until site placements begin January 29th. Once your application is reviewed, you will be notified if you are chosen for an interview.
This position is open to ALL grade classifications (freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate students) from ALL majors/minors. No car required. Background checks will need to be completed prior to employment.
