Since graduating from Winthrop University, I have attended the Medical University
of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston, SC as a student in the college of medicine.
After 5 years of studying medicine, I will graduate from medical school in May 2021
and have been accepted into a 3-year Family Medicine Residency Program in Concord,
NC. There, I will explore my future career options as a Family Medicine Physician
in order to determine whether I will pursue further specialized training through a
fellowship, or begin practice as a general Family Medicine Physician. I am truly grateful
to Winthrop University's Eagle STEM Scholars Program for providing me with the foundation
that was necessary for my success in medical school. Without the dedicated faculty
and staff at Winthrop, especially those who were instrumental in my success during
my undergraduate career, which includes, but is not limited to, Ms. Rachel Law, Dr.
Nicholas Grossoehme, Dr. Takita Sumter and Dr. Jason Hurlbert, I would not be where
I am today. As my career takes me on a path that I could not feel more blessed to
be on, I hope to be able to continue to lift others as I climb.
