PalmerMerilynMerilyn Palmer is a Sophomore from Orangeburg, South Carolina. Ms. Palmer majors in Chemistry and has a concentration in Biochemistry. As a freshman, she demonstrated her love for science by joining Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society and becoming the social media coordinator of Geek Chic, an organization designed for minority students in the STEM field. She is also a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. During her summer, Ms. Palmer spent her time conducting research on Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and Alzheimer's Disease at Claflin University. Alongside her passion for science, Ms. Palmer has a passion for dance which led her to join Winthrop's Royalty Dance Team. Ms. Palmer's diligence and hard work led her to be selected to the National Society of Leadership and Success. When Ms. Palmer is not in the library studying or attending organizational meetings she is hanging out on campus and spending time with friends.
