Hey y'all, I'm from North Augusta, SC and attended North Augusta High School. I started
at Winthrop with an interest in teaching, mathematics, and biology. I graduated from
Winthrop in Spring 2019 with a BA in Mathematics and a Minor in Biology. While at
Winthrop, I had the chance to work various research projects with Drs. Kristen and
Zach Abernathy. Currently, I am a Bioinformatics PhD student at the University of
Georgia. I work in Dr. Douda Bensasson's lab where we study evolution and population
genetics of Saccharomycesand Candida. My project is to investigate the relationship
between newly found wild strains and clinical strains of Candida albicans. My interests
lie in understanding how the genetics of this species can lend insight to the varying
pathogenicity.
