My name is Victoria Leroy. I graduated from Winthrop University in 2017 with a B.S. in Biology. I worked as a research technician for two years at the McColl Lockwood Laboratory for Muscular Dystrophy Research in Charlotte, NC. During my time there, I worked on testing preclinical gene therapies for the treatment of limb-girdle muscular dystrophy. Currently, I am a 1st year PhD student in the Biomedical Sciences program at the University of Florida (Go Gators!!). My academic focus is pharmacology and therapeutic development, and my research focus is on transplant immunology. My lab is interested in the factors (cells, cytokines, lipids, etc.) that facilitate the resolution of inflammation, particularly in the context of inflammation that occurs as a result of lung transplantation.
