Scholar Profile

Name: Caprice Garcia

Major: Biology

Garcia, Caprice

My name is Caprice Garcia and I am a Biology major at Winthrop University. I was born in Memphis, Tennessee in 1998 and moved to Columbia, South Carolina in 2004 at the start of first grade. I have lived in South Carolina and been a part of the Richland 2 school district since then. At the start of my freshmen year at Ridge View High School in Columbia I decided to join a program at my school known as the Bio-Health Sciences Magnet. Being in this program exposed me to the wonderful opportunities that the medical field offers. Since joining that program I have declared that I want to be a part of the medical field in the future. That said, during my senior year of high school, I decided to apply to Winthrop University for the vast number of opportunities I know it offers and was accepted a few months later! I then joined the STEM program because of my interest in Biology and the medical field knowing that it would open great doors for me and shortly after, I was accepted into the Honors Program at Winthrop University. Though I have a long way to go, I know that joining the Winthrop University student body and the STEM program were both great decisions on my journey towards success!
