Scholar Profile

Name: Esseabasi Etim

Major: Chemistry / Computer Science

Etim, EsseabasiBorn and raised in Abak, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, my family moved to the Columbia, SC USA in 2007. As alien as the Western culture was for me, I found a common ground in AC Flora High School, playing soccer. I started off on the Junior Varsity team then moved up to Varsity. Soccer, otherwise known to me as football, was my favorite opportunity AC Flora gave me. Due to the cultural change, I was involved in very little organizations or functions in high school. Other than the soccer team, I was part of the French club, and the Math Team in my senior year. Outside school, I was part of the church youth. Frequently, the youth would go evangelizing from door to door. We organized functions like buying gifts for parents that lived in the apartment complex close to the church on either father's or mother's day. Also, my sophomore year, I tried out for the South Carolina U-16 Men's Soccer team, and made the team. I played with them for two years before tearing my right ACL right before graduation. Now, I currently attend Winthrop University, Rock Hill, SC and I am a double major in Chemistry with a concentration in Multidisciplinary Chemistry and a Computer Science. My goal in life is to come up with solutions to complex problems we face today in science using the ever evolving technology. Born on June 21, 1994, my name is Esseabasi Etim aka Captain Kirk.
