Hello, my name is Sommer Barber. Since leaving the Eagle STEM program, I have pursued
a profession in pharmacy and began my education in the pharmaceutical sciences at
the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, SC. I interned at CVS for the
last 3 years and am now on my clinical rotations as a 4th year PharmD student. Over
the course of the last 3 years, I have joined several pharmacy associations such as
the Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists, Kappa Epsilon, and the American
Pharmacist Association. However, the organization that I have connected with the
most is the Student National Pharmacists Association, where I discovered a passion
for advocating and enriching underserved communities. I aspire to be an ambulatory
care pharmacist, where I can provide continuity of care and aid patients in managing
their medications and disease states. I also wish to continue to help communities
with poor access to healthcare by aiding individuals in acquiring health insurance
and providing resources to help keep the public informed of the affordable healthcare
options available to them.
