Sartin worked in the years between undergraduate and graduate school as professional theatre technician in New York City at The New York Shakespeare Festival, Production Arts Lighting, and on a number of Broadway shows including King of Hearts, Ballroom, and A Chorus Line.

Before coming to Winthrop, Sartin taught theatre at Georgia Southern University and at University of North Carolina-Charlotte. This is her 10th year at Winthrop, where, in addition to teaching courses in scenery and lighting, she designs or supervises the design of the scenery and lighting for departmental productions. She also works professionally as a scene designer for various professional companies in the Charlotte area, including for Charlotte Repertory Theatre, Children's Theatre of Charlotte, and Playworks Summer Stage. She spends the spare time she can find with her husband, Laddy (a playwright and actor), and their daughters, Marianna and Kathryn.
