Faculty & Staff Profiles

Sara is an educator, facilitator and narrative based studio jeweler and object maker. Her work, which integrates a variety of mediums and techniques is largely influenced by the effect of the absence of place in regards to memory and personal histories. Examples can be found in publications such as Showcase 500 Art Necklaces, On Body and Soul: Contemporary Armour to Amulets, and Narrative Jewelry: Tales from the Toolbox.

She is co-founder and co-coordinator of the Smitten Forum, an annual traveling residency for metalsmiths/makers. Additional projects include an ongoing collaborative series of work with fellow maker and image-based artist, Kristina Smith, as well as a role in the development of the inaugural symposium The Bench: Southwest Makers Symposium, a biennialgathering formakers in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
