The Department of Theatre and Dance offers a B.A. in Dance and a B.A. in Dance with K-12 Teacher Certification.
All majors complete a core curriculum that exposes them to the broad range of dance technique and studies. This core curriculum includes courses in performance (modern, ballet, jazz technique and choreography), production (technical production and performance skills) and theory (music theory, kinesiology, dance history).
Dance majors can choose to take elective courses such as advanced modern and ballet technique, pointe technique, tap, social dance, hip-hop, and early dance. Dance majors may also complete internships with local or regional dance companies, and they may participate in the productions of Shakespeare Carolina at Winthrop, our summer theatre residency.
A detailed list of required courses for the B.A. degree in dance can be found by clicking on the "Course and Programs" button on the left hand side of this page. In the drop-down menu, click on "Degree Programs."
Prospective students can learn more about our program by clicking on the yellow "Prospective
