Graduate Studies

Welcome to the home page for graduate studies in the Richard W. Riley College of Education. Whether you are a prospective student, a current student, or a graduate of one of our outstanding programs, we hope that you will find what you are looking for here.

If you are a prospective student looking for information about programs, we recommend that you start at the Degree Programs section (/graduateschool/programs/). Here you will find an overview of our unique degree and certificate programs with links to the full information available at the Graduate School's website. Many of our programs are designed for people who wish to work in schools, or who are currently working in schools. We offer initial teaching certification through two Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degrees. We offer advanced study for classroom teachers in our Master of Education (M.Ed.) programs in Teacher Leadership, Literacy and Special Education Intervention. Our new M.Ed. in Learning Design and Technology offers a unique opportunity for people working in schools and people working in education in non K-12 environments such as business and industry, higher education, government to learn to be technology specialists, instructional designers, elearning specialists and more.

We offer teachers looking to work as elementary and secondary school principals the opportunity to study in our Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Educational Leadership. We also offer a Specialist in Educational Leadership (Ed.S.) degree designed for principals interested in becoming superintendents, central office administrators, program directors, and leaders in curriculum and instruction.

We also offer graduate study in other settings. Our Masters of Education (M.Ed.) in Counseling and Development prepares students to be school counselors or community mental health counselors. Our Master of Science (M.S.) in Sports and Fitness Administration prepares students to assume leadership positions in various sport and fitness venues in both facility and personnel management and program development. We offer much more than graduate study in school-based settings.

And if you are an alum of one of our programs, welcome home. We are always interested in what you are doing and look forward to catching up with you. We encourage you to contact us to let us know where you are and what you have been doing since graduation.

We invite all of you to visit us at our Facebook page and our Twitter account as well. These are great places to keep up with what is going on in the College of Education.
