Linda H. Pickett is an Associate Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Pedagogy. After receiving an undergraduate degree from Michigan State University, Linda moved to Florida where she taught and was a professional development specialist for 32 years. She was also an adjunct instructor at the University of Miami for nine years. Retiring from the public schools after 32 years, Dr. Pickett joined the faculty at Winthrop University in August 2006.
Dr. Pickett's passion and expertise is in elementary science education and she teaches Capstone for Educational Leaders (EDCI 450), Contemporary Strategies for Curriculum Integration (EDCI 400), Elementary Science Methods (ELEM 361), and Laboratory Experiences in the Elementary Classroom (ELEM 293). Dr. Pickett also supervises students in their field experiences and internships in schools. Dr. Pickett served as a Winthrop Faculty in Residence at Hunter Street Elementary School for six years. This collaborative work with the school faculty and administration was recognized by the 2017 Richard W. Clark Award for Exemplary Partner School Work from the National Network for Educational Renewal.
